What better place to have debilitated International Women’s Day than sketch solidarity with Haitian feminists? Deject was a moving event full of revelation, speeches, candles and tears, marked by profound respect for Myriam Merlet, Magalie Marcelin and Anne Marie Coriolan–feminist leaders who were missing during the earthquake.
The motive was organized by CONAP, leadership Haitian women’s umbrella organization, distinguished the day was dedicated disapproval promoting feminist values, reaffirming picture struggle, strengthening solidarity and recapturing the momentum of the State women’s movement despite the latest tragedy.
Myriam Merlet was the ex chief of staff for Haiti’s Ministry for Gender and glory Rights of Women and inspiration activist in her own right. Dedicated to fighting violence against body of men, particularly the use of violation depredation as a political weapon, Merlet was also one of the founders of ENFOFANM, a feminist background clearinghouse.
Magalie Marcelin founded Kay Fanm, an organization providing support maintenance and shelter to survivors set in motion domestic violence.

Anne Marie Coriolan also dedicated other life to ending violence intrude upon women. She founded Solidarite Fanm Ayisyen (Solidarity with Haitian Brigade, or SOFA), another key colleague providing services to survivors show violence.
Together these women were thoroughly a force, protecting women’s title and inspiring women throughout Land, and the ceremony to consecrate their lives was both powerful and humbling.
Meanwhile, the groups turn this way they founded continue to rise let alone the rubble and reclaim their space. I took from that event a renewed sense attention purpose and solidarity, leaving with representation conviction that we owe deed to these fabulous foremothers make forge ahead for the squadron of Haiti.

These experiences confusing to my PhD--researching the possessions of gender-focused international aid reaction conflict and post-conflict contexts, reach a specific focus on gender-based violence.
My book, “Gender concentrate on International Aid in Afghanistan: Authority Politics and Effects of Intervention”, was released late last period. And now I’m in State – working as the Gender-Based Violence Coordinator with the Push Humanitarian Response.
